Anderson Packaging Unveils New Quality Control Laboratory
3/1/2000
Anderson Packaging's microbiology and analytical laboratories have moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in Rockford, Illinois. At nearly three times the size of the original facility, the new Quality Control Laboratory affords Anderson's three full-time chemists and technicians greater flexibility to manage microbiological and analytical testing services, according to laboratory manager Chanthaly Phonthibsvads.
"With new GMP and FDA regulations, rigorous testing and identification have become vitally important. It's beneficial to customers to offer these services in-house because Anderson can deliver results in a fraction of the time required with outside testing," Phonthibsvads explained. "The expanded laboratory allows us to incorporate the latest equipment into our procedures and further enhance our testing capabilities."
Anderson's microbiology laboratory conducts indicator and pathogen tests on a variety of microorganisms. The analytical laboratory provides identification, uniformity, purity and limits testing on raw materials, in-process samples and finished goods.
Phonthibsvads noted that the new facility features a recently acquired atomic absorption spectrometer, which tests products for trace metals in the range of parts per million to parts per billion.
